New direction for CFC Head of Rugby, Mark Hammett
The CFC Board is excited to announce a revision on Mark ‘Hammer’ Hammett’s role as Head of Rugby.
After an initial settling-in period for the newly created role, and further review by both Hammer and the CFC Board, Hammer will take on the role of a Technical Advisor on a part-time basis, effective from Monday 3 February.
“There are a number of aspects of the Head of Rugby role that suited Hammer’s extensive skillset, and after consultation with Hammer, we have agreed that he is best utilised through a specific focus on these areas,” says Craig Calder, CFC Board Chairman.
Within Hammer’s new role as Technical Advisor, he will focus on:
· Coach development
· On-field support and coaching
· Preview/review for teams and individuals
· Development and implementation of an Academy and player pathway programs for both male and female players.
· Implementation of a recruitment process through professional and personal contacts and with key personnel within CFC, including coaches, managers and the Rugby Leadership Team.
“I am genuinely excited and committed to this new revised role. I have already witnessed the talent and commitment of our players and coaches and the future for CFC is super exciting,” says Hammer.
“I have been given a great opportunity to further develop individuals and coaches, helping them achieve their goals and reach their full potential. I can’t wait until the season kicks off”.
The Rugby Leadership Team, established in late 2024, will continue to support Hammer with administration, player support and wellbeing, events and communication. The Board is also now in the process of looking at a ‘rugby support’ role to work alongside Hammer and CFC staff.
“The Board is extremely enthusiastic to receive Hammer’s continued commitment to CFC”, says Craig.
“We fully endorse the Rugby Leadership team’s ability to support Hammer in his updated role and are very pleased with the dedication and professionalism shown by the team.”
