The Axemens Club


What is the Axemens Club?

The Axemens Club is an independent incorporated society under the 2022 Act within the Christchurch Football Club (Inc). Formed in 1990, its purpose is to keep past players, supporters, and friends connected to the Club and actively involved in its future.

The Club provides:

  • Ongoing camaraderie and a sense of belonging for former players and members
  • A welcoming environment for new members to connect with fellow Axemen
  • Support for Christchurch Football Club at all levels, from junior to senior rugby
  • Opportunities to contribute through coaching, administration, sponsorship, or general support
  • Regular rugby-focused luncheons and events with guest speakers
  • A way to remain ambassadors for both the Axemens and Christchurch Football Clubs

Join the Axemen

Since 1990, the Axemens Club has provided practical support to the Christchurch Football Club, including:

  • Game-day video and drone equipment
  • Electronic scoreboard and big-screen projector
  • Sail cloth cover over the outdoor BBQ area
  • Digitisation of club photos, minutes, documents, and newsletters
  • Assistance with the Canardlys playground
  • Installation of a defibrillator and large digital scoreboard
  • Discounted subs for Colts rugby
  • A wide array of gear and specialised equipment including 4G radios, scrum equipment and drone technologies.

The Club intends to continue supporting projects in consultation with the Club Executive.

Membership

Who can join?

Anyone who supports the purpose of the Axemens Club and wishes to enjoy its fellowship, provided total membership does not exceed the number of years since the Christchurch Football Club was established in 1863.

How is the Club run?

The Axemens Club is governed by an elected executive comprising a Chairman, Trustees, Treasurer, and Secretary.

Cost

Annual membership is $100, which includes:

  • Non‑playing membership of the Christchurch Football Club with full voting rights
  • An exclusive Axemens tie and beanie
  • Access to regular events and functions
  • A clearly identified/reserved Axemens table in the clubrooms
  • Business networking opportunities
  • Christmas dinners, luncheons, and after-match savouries
